Native americans, especially the plains tribes, commonly used up all the resources of an area before moving on. They were hardly conservators of the wilderness. They were ecking out a living the hard way, using what they could, and taking what they could use. They did everything they could to survive. They just didn't have our technology, so their impact wasn't as great.
