The Mighty Thor!
May. 29th, 2011 10:35 pmSo, I saw Thor. The SF community cannot be forgiven for failing to play up Straczynski's contribution to the scriptwriting, nor Joss Whedon's contribution to directing. (Especially since both Whedon and JMS are famous for being uncredited parachutists called in to save the script when it desperately needs it.)
Yes, Hemsworth is f'ing hot, and Natalie Portman is, well, Natalie Portman. The script has the Straczynski touch: not a whole lot of mystery and origin story, get on with the freakin' conflict.
Which the story does. It's a completely serviceable superhero story, with good visuals and fun chewing of the scenery. Rene Russo looks gorgeous as Freya.
