I don't normally follow football (what Americans call "soccer"), but I was at what Americans also call an "Irish Pub" this afternoon and the Series A World Cup was on, showing repeats of the Brazil vs. Ireland game.
There's a fence that goes all the way 'round the playing field to keep the ball from rolling into the stands and causing game delays. As I watched the game, I realized that the entire fence was one giant high-resolution color billboard screen.
And it keeps on scrolling, with flashing high-contrast blues and whites, all throughout the game. It's not enough that the players are high-concentration adverts themselves, with all the logos on their jerseys, shorts and shoes; they have to play inside a gigantic, epilepsy-inducing bubble. How can they stand it?
