A Fine Morning

There was much squealing of delight when Kouryou-chan opened up her gifts this morning. From the blacklight "secret message" pen to the Nintendo DS, and from her "As seen on TV" rhinestone beading kit (courtesy of my mother) to a horrible disease (we got her halitosis), she was a very happy camper.

Omaha was very lovely and got me one gift: a writer's retreat in March. I'm intimidated by the prospect, although I'm led to believe it's not an intensive the way Clarion is, so I think it'll be fun.

It has been a lovely Solstice, all things considered. I hope yours has been just as delightful!

Cats are silly creatures

I know it's traditional to do this with dogs, but we have a cat. After our Dies Natalis Solis Invicti dinner (thanks, blaisepascal, we put the big pig bone on a plate and left it on the floor for Dinah, who immediately went at it. It was quite the sight. I am lion, see me take down the wild boar and eat of its flesh! I am young! I am powerful! I am... ow, damn, I'm missing a quarter of my teeth! Damn!

Poor kitty. Anyway, she seems to have much enjoyed her Solis Invicti dinner as much as the rest of us. She's been eating pretty well the past few weeks, which has us heartened.
