Saturday night
Dec. 17th, 2006 10:35 amWow. As of this morning Omaha, Kouryou-chan and I are among the lucky 350,000 who have power: the other 350,000 who lost power Thursday night are still without.
The first thing Omaha and I did when the power came on was bathe. When our water heater went out a few years back we installed (by ourselves, soldered stuff and everything) a really nice heater, complete with an insulated base three inches thick and an extra insulation blanket. In the 40-odd hours without power the heater had lost only about 5 degrees of heat.
After everyone else went to bed, I sat up and wrote for two more hours. I've discovered that it's hard to write "married sex" repeatedly, even when the characters are trying different things, because their feelings are pretty well set. Their lives are being disrupted by outside events, but in the bedroom all of Dove's needs are being met. I needed the scene because I needed a scene with one of the characters in the shower after sex so she could overhear the other one on the phone. But from her point of view, the emotional content of the love scene feels a little repetitious. Still, got two thousand words done.
I slept pretty well last night.
