Mmmm, Fire up the grill!
Jun. 25th, 2005 10:38 amWe had both
tygereclipse and
fallenpegasus over for dinner and struggled to figure out what we wanted for dinner, but eventually we decided that the season and weather called for firing up the grill. While the rice was cooking, I fired up the grill with my chimney grillstarter and assembled the salsa for the fish: four cups tomatoes diced, 1/4 cup basil, handful of diced red onion, two tbsp mint, a tbsp of lemon, and salt and pepper. It was delicious.
We also killed off the bottle of Little Penguin Shiraz, which was nice. There was enough for one glass apiece. It was not as good with a meal as standalone. A bit weak as a wine, but one cannot complain of the quality for seven bucks.
The girls went to bed without much of a complaint, although both of them were a struggle to get their hair untangled and combed out. I've started to put a bit of leave-in wax conditioner on Yamaarashi-chan's ends because they dry out and tangle so badly. We played a round of Ker-Plunk! before putting out the lights.
Afterwards, given that TygerEclipse had never seen it, we subjected her to the best/worst MST3K we own. Despite having The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living And Became Mixed-Up Zombies, Rocketship X-M, and Track of the Moon Beast, we subjected her to the execrable Space Mutiny. "Hey, she's got an amazing package. Is that an armadillo in her trousers?"
We've had spotty Internet access, which is frustrating my attempt to download a video on daiko drumming I've wanted for a long time. And I finally (finally!) have gotten around to watching season two of Maria-Sama ga Miteru. The artwork went down a bit in the second season, but the writing continues to be solid and evocative.
