I hope I didn't break anything!
Jun. 13th, 2005 09:25 amAfter a morning of housework, during which the girls actually folded and put away their own clothes, we went roller skating. I did the speed skate, which was a lot more work than it seems. Yamaarashi-chan was tearing up the floor, but Kouryou-chan was terrified for the first half hour. Later, however, she did much better and was out on the floor, grinning as she went around and around. Slowly, but she went.
I, on the other hand, was trying to figure out how to skate backwards. The transition from forward to backward still has me puzzled. While trying it, my feet shot out in front of me and I went down, halting my fall by the palm badly. The shock went into my wrist and up my shoulder. I spent the next ten minutes massaging my upper bicep and shoulder, trying to recover.
Later, after we had dropped Yamaarashi-chan off at her mother's house-- and gotten a gawk at her mother's girlfriend's brand new nifty truck-- we went home, had a quiet dinner of tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches, played video games and went to bed. And then I noticed that I couldn't lie on my right side. There's a deep, painful bruise on the pelvis there, with no external visible bruising accompanying it. It hurt when I pressed against it-- a lot.
I hope I didn't break anything. I know it's possible to fracture the pelvis and remaining standing for days or even weeks-- that happened to a friend of mine back in college, and he was is far worse physical shape then than I am now. It doesn't seem to interfere with any activity so far-- not walking, at least. It aches very dully this morning.
