The Pipes! My Valves!
Apr. 29th, 2005 01:18 pmYesterday, the weatherman predicted a dark and stormy weekend, starting late in the evening, but when I got home the weather was still clear and sweet, so Omaha and I decided to fire up the grill. I put a chimney starter on, fueled with the fake-mesquite briquets and old copies of the Little Nickle newsletter. Just as the fire was starting to rise, Kouryou-chan came running out of the bathroom.
"Mommy! Daddy! There's too much water in the toilet!" Immediately followed by alarming, splashing sounds.
Ack! Omaha turned off the toilet, I plunged it and mopped up the mess, but oy... didn't need that. Omaha tended the fire until it was all up, and then I washed up and grilled hamburgers (mine with real blue cheese, the dense, oily kind where the mold is blue and green, oooh my valves! But yum!), roasted early spring corn and roasted sweet potato wedgies. Absotively delicious. Kouryou-chan ate her burger.
Given that we had to bleach the bathroom floor anyway, Omaha and I teamed up to do the dining room, kitchen, and bathroom all in one go. She picked up and swept the dining room while I finished the kitchen, then I swept the kitchen while she got the nooks in the dining room with the vacuum, then I mopped all three floors. It was nice to work with her; usually, chores are done somewhat singly, but we got a lot done in a very short period of time.
And I actually got to bed on time.
