Sally Field again
Mar. 21st, 2004 12:22 amHorus, you guys... remind me either to not whine in public, or to whine a lot more. Thank you all. "You like me! You really really like me!"
I also got some wonderful support from rec.arts.sf.composition, where some people pointed out they'd been writing for ten years and hadn't seen a dime. And a special thanks to one contributor who literally will pay the whole repair bill... Yikes. Thanks. I don't know that he wants to be recognized publicly, so I won't mention any names.
But the question then becomes: what do I do in six months when the next bill for the ISP comes due? I think I'm going to have to put some kind of harassment on the Pendorwright site. Intersticials with "Have you donated" signs, hopefully no more annoying than those at Salon, which is still my favorite on-line magazine, despite most of its talent leaving to take in the micropayments blogger-style. I'm going to have to put in more donation opportunities, and perhaps be a little more in-your-face about it.
Not before August, though. And I'm going to have to research the possibilities. I get annoyed when I get bothered, but apparently it works for some people. I just know that when I've sent money it's because I would be saddened to see the resource go, which is why I've sent money to As If! and paid Cory Doctorow, for two examples I feel are worthwhile.
Wonder what I could do for merchanidising. FallenPegasus's joke about a "silicone line of Pendorian dildos" is starting to look... possible.
Again, thanks. I'm no longer quite so depressed.
