Spring, Love, Sex, Incantations
Feb. 22nd, 2004 10:43 pmAh, it feels like Spring. Time when human beings engage in strange rituals like putting on gloves and inserting their fists into deep, dark, moist soil.
Friday, after work, I stopped at my usual coffee shop, where I hammered out only about 400 words (I was running late and didn't have time for more). The barista said she liked my haircut; I thought things about the way the apron and her tight jeans complimented her ass but couldn't say them aloud. I had hit my deadlines at work and was feeling pretty good, all told.
I stopped to pick up Yamaarashi-chan, then got home to find that
fallenpegasus had stopped over from some domestic sanity (in this place??) and home-made chili while we watched Teen Titans, Fear Itself on my laptop. Omaha was still sick. Pegasus headed home, and we all went to bed early.
Saturday, Omaha and I took the kids to a garden shop where we picked up a couple of bulbs and seedlings for the front. She has done an amazing job once more of restoring the front walkway to life and I think it's really cool the way she does it.
Oh, and I rebooted the laptop and managed to get the IR working on the first go, so I think I've figured out the proper incantations for making it work. Yay!
We also went over to
j5nn5r's for an evening of sitting around and having fun, shooting the breeze and hanging out. He gets the most amazing barbecue stuff-- Mmm, still-bleeding dead cow. The girls thought I was gross. I declined the hot tub; it's the crowded nature of the things. Talked geek with one acquaintance. One friend of mine made a joke about her trying to get into my pants, and I quavered a bit. I'm mulling it over, but there's a history there and my thoughts are vaguely complicated about her.
Sunday, we did more gardening. I turned the entire compost bin. We went to a second-hand store and bought two more blankets for the girls, since Kouryou-chan's outgrown the one on her bed and Yamaarashi-chan complained she was cold last night. We also replaced four ceramic salad plates we'd broken along the way (29c each-- score!) and I found someone had discarded an in-the-bottle ice tray. Had to get it; the normal ice tray ice cubes don't fit in the girls' juice boxes.
The girls helped me change the sheets, like they do every week, and Omaha promised them their new blankets after they were washed. Lunch was egg salad sandwiches. I was lazy and didn't cook much, although now the the weather's reaching temperatures where dough may rise I'm jonsing to bake again. One of the things we bought at the gardening place was a child's six-place plastic greenhouse. I let the girls do three seedlings each, but it'll be Kouryou-chan's responsibility to water and turn it every day. We'll see.
I've been... oddly horny recently. Finding myself being even more affectionate towards Omaha and thinking kinkier thoughts than usual about her. The past six weeks have been a brutal series of flu, colds, and sniffles, not to mention overwork, late nights, and kidstress. Maybe it's the sunlight.
Anyway, one of life's distinct pleasures awaits me: we aired out the mattress today, and with clean sheets and pillows.
