I'm so grateful for Desirae and Jenner and their two lovely daugthers for coming over and helping us relieve the stir-craziness that had been building up in the house. We now have three pounds of cooked ham in the 'fridge, however, and Omaha is starting to wonder how I can stand to eat ham sandwiches three times in a row. Hey, that pig died for us and it would be wrong for me to make his sacrifice meaningless. And I've eaten quite a bit of wild rice; if my colon given me trouble, it won't be due to a lack of fiber.

Yesterday was particularly bad because the three of us-- Omaha, Kouryou-chan, and I-- were all stuck in the house, peering at each other, and trying to figure out what we were going to do with our day. We wasted it away, playing games together and apart. Kouryou-chan was thrilled to be able to play her new computer games and we worked on a puzzle together. She convinced me to play several rounds of Chute & Ladders, which is a game I suspect I would have more fun playing after a big mug o' beer. Sadly, I rarely drink beer.

I also finally got to watch the original Read Or Die. What a great movie! I'm hooked. And right now I'm sucking down fansubs of the animated TV series since it's not available in the states on DVD or video. The really sad part is that an episode will fit and play well on my laptop, which gives me another excuse to not write on the bus. At least until I finish watching the series. And it's thirteen episodes so far. I should probably throttle the connection a bit, since my connection is saturated with the downloads.

Today has been better. We avoided stir-craziness by going to a bookstore and then burning some store credit we had left at Kidopolis, letting Kouryou-chan tear around that great indoor playground. She had a blast, and hopefully she'll be a bit more tired tonight, since last night she wouldn't go to bed. Omaha and I had fun betting each other which body part would hurt next as she tried to avoid going to sleep: "My throat hurts," "My back hurts." She now knows that we're serious: if her throat hurts, she gets the nasty flavored Chloraseptic.

Mmm... big, fluffy pancakes for breakfast. And tonight we made Kouryou-chan's favorite, red lentil stew, which she glommed down. My gift to Omaha, a small set of non-stick cookware, has been getting a heck of an introduction into our busy, foodie house.

There was snow on the ground this morning, but not enough to play with and when the rains came this afternoon it all washed away. Kouryou-chan was very disappointed.

Oh, and an odd, neat incident. One of the things I picked up a while ago was a set of blocks for Kouryou-chan. She likes playing with them, they're ordinary and she can make all sorts of things with them. They were used, from a second-hand store. And written on one large yellow one, in red letters, someone hand-wrote, with a ball-point point, "Wendy has strange friends. Like, for instance, me."

I'll alway be curious to know who Wendy is.

I sprained and bruised my toe. While we were at Kidopolis, I slammed my toe into one of the exercise pads that scatter about the ground. We have to go about in socks only, which is why my toes were exposed. Right now it's very swollen, with the tip very blue and ugly. It's not broken, I know that, but it was close. I can barely walk without whimpering.

I'm sure I'll be fine eventually.
