Last night I brought home Mozilla 1.5 and installed in on my desktop. This is not your commercial release of Mozilla, though. No, I built it myself using the local tools on my box, with optimization screwed up to "3 + expensive operations" and all debugging code stripped out.
OhGreatOdin, it's fast. I was blown away. IE wishes it was this fast, this robust, this... amazing. It was the web the way the web was meant to be... instantaneous, gratifying. Nothing between the user and the information. Sweet! I'm so tempted to make it my default brower-- either it, or a Galeon based on it. (Update-- the galeon beta tree based on Mozilla 1.5 did not run reliably.)
On another front, I'm finally happy with the Template manager portion of Plotlines. It took me a while to figure out what I was doing wrong with the GLib exception management code, but I got it last night while I was on the bus and I'm quite happy with how it works.
