So, after Omaha closes up the garage sale (making a pitiful $2.50 or so in the process), we head out to a local park to give Kouryou-chan lunch-- egg salad sandwiches with celery and honey mustard, plus dates and pears-- and help her learn how to ride her tricycle, since the terrain around our home is just a little to hilly for her little legs. She only tries the trike a little bit before giving up, but has a lot of fun with the hardware.

Later, we head over to [livejournal.com profile] jenner's place and hang out with them for the evening, watching the episode of MI-5 that I missed, hanging out in the hot-tub, eating huge slaps of barbecue pork, and generally having a good time. Sadly, none of the VCD's I brought played in any of the DVD players in the house. Ah, well.

Sunday, I woke up late. Omaha was already awake and doing fine, out in the living room and geeking. I snuggled Kouryou-chan to wake her up. But she only whined and said, "I don't want to get up. That's a very grown-up thing to say."

"Yes, honey," I told her, "But it's also a very grown-up thing to say that it's daytime and it's time to get up."

"Mmph. Let me sleep just a little longer. That's also a very grown-up thing to say, isn't it?"

I just laughed and got up to make blueberry pancakes. Yummy.

Omaha resumed the garage sale while I went over to [livejournal.com profile] kendaer's home to help him, [livejournal.com profile] tabbifli and [livejournal.com profile] talek in digging out their pond, now completely silted. With my wrists in the shape they're in, I decided to spend my time hauling the wheelbarrow back and forth, keeping my wrists straight. I don't fele that I put out that much work but by the end I was completely worn out. [livejournal.com profile] lisakit, [livejournal.com profile] jenkitty, and [livejournal.com profile] technoshaman showed up. Alex and Jen were the most impressive, digging and digging. They'll both feel it tomorrow. Tabbi made the most amazing chicken cacciatore.

I thought maybe my back would give out, or my wrists. No, of course not. It's my right knee that finally decides I shouldn't go any further. Freaking 37 year-old body. It hurts like hell and won't let me go much further, not carrying weight at any rate. I also blew out the tire on the wheelbarrow, which turned out to be tubeless. Now I have to learn how to mount a tubeless utility tire.

After dinner, I made my goodbyes to the household full of people, giving Jen and Tabbi very warm and friendly hugs.

After I got home, I geeked. Omaha fed Kouryou-chan while I played with the card manager for the laptop, allowing me to extract flash memory cards onto the laptop in one big suck. This is really advantageous because it can take half an hour or more doing it from the camera's interface, but now I can stick the camera's memory right into my laptop and just copy the files like it was any old filesystem.

Then it's my turn to bathe Kouryou-chan and put her to bed. She decides that she wants to wash her hair herself, and she does quite a good job after all. But then she refuses to get dressed. Eventually, I convince her to put her underwear on. She goes into the changing room, and when she comes out, she has her underwear on. Sort of. )

We do get her dressed, and Omaha reads to her. They head to bed soon enough, and I'm just finishing up this post before bed.
