Never More Relevant Than Today!

I was happy again. Complete. People sometimes tell me I should get it permanently attached, but, I don't know. Even though it's sometimes a pain in the ass, I like having a detachable penis.

I have a working Palm again. I had to uninstall and reinstall SilverScreen because it hosed all of the icons, and lost my ToDo list (Franklin/Covey version), but fortunately I had a backup. Brainforest for some bizarre reason thought I wanted back all of the old forests I had deleted. BigClock likewise disappeared, but again, I had a backup. CryptoPad installed without complaint and found my old crypto'd notefiles.

Yay! I now know what I'm doing, who I'm doing it with, and when.

The Friday Five!

1. What is your favorite type of literature to read (magazine, newspaper, novels, nonfiction, poetry, etc.)?

Science Fiction, novel. After that, I like to read philosophy.

2. What is your favorite novel?

Illuminatus!, by Robert Anton Wilson and Robert Shea. Despite it's very pulpy innards and the fact that it hasn't aged all that well, I still see and learn something new each time I read it. It seems to be a factor of my growing older, that it becomes meaningful in different ways each time.

3. Do you have a favorite poem? (Share it!)

My favorite poems? I have two. The first, from Shel Silverstein, is just about me:

Today I made a plane of stone.
I always did like staying home.

The other, slightly more obscure poem, is "Sobered," written in 1924 by Elsa Gidlow:

Last night I was drunken
On something more than wine,
There was one other reveller,
The spinning world was mine.

This morning I am sober,
I lie here all alone,
The world has ceased from spinning,
And my soul is not my own.

4. What is one thing you've always wanted to read, or wish you had more time to read?

Donald Knuth's The Art of Computer Programming.

5. What are you currently reading?

Fiction: The Warrior's Apprentice by Lois McMaster Bujold.
