So, today, Omaha and I cleaned out the refrigerator. This was not an adventurous assignment. There were no mysteries found, there was nothing green and fuzzy hiding within, no unforseen civilizations rising out of some ancient lost food buried deep with that box's cold depths.

Omaha has this task in her PDA, every two months, like clockwork. We do it together, it takes about an hour, and it circumvents all manner of nasty surprises we used to get before we got married, had kids, and got serious about all the little things that make living easier. We also label everything with a little Post-It note on top, so we know when it was opened or made and we throw everything out two weeks later.

This appears to be one of those "I wish I'd learned to do this when I was younger" tasks. Not that my advice will do anyone any good, mind you, but it's always worth another shot. Forgive me if I'm insufferably smug about my domesticity.

And, dammit, why isn't "smug" a mood?
