Vampire Faery Princess

It was a lovely Halloween weekend here at the Villa. Storm wasn't with us, so we missed out on her wearing her Japanese Schoolgirl Uniform, and it was still a school day and a work day. But we went Trick Or Treating with some of the neighbor kids Kouryou-chan knows, and she got a ton of swag while we talked about the neighborhood and politics and news.

Sadly, there is no pumpkin picture this year. The girls carved an awesome pumpkin using a smiling ghost stencil, but the weather was wet and warm in the week prior to Halloween and the damned thing rotted fast. They did carve it entirely without my help, mostly because I had to run out and pick up Omaha, who was on a campaigning run in a neighborhood to the east of us.

Halloween followed an equally laid-back weekend which consisted mostly of get-ready-for-winter chores. Omaha and I cleared out the backyard and I winterized anything with a two-stroke engine. Omaha and Kouryou-chan put in way too much time making apple turnovers that turned out to be utterly awesome, and there's some filling left so maybe this evening I can talk Storm into making home-made poptarts with me. There was the usual weekend vacuuming and mopping and cleaning.

I do a lot of cooking, but baking (from scratch) is one gastronomical avenue I've yet to tread.

So, I wonder if you'd care to share your apple turnover recipe? I'd like to give it a try. Thanks...
