In a Wall Street Journal OP-ED on the coming orgy of 9/11 remembrance, Doug Henninger ends with this

There is solace in knowing that whichever fractious party sits in the Oval Office, it remains common policy to ensure the protection of the American People whether they want it or not.

[Emphasis mine, natch.] Why thank you so much. How very fucking patronizing of you, Mr. Henninger. A more perfect example of the attitude Our Civil Masters have for us could not have been written.

The American People outside of your beltway bubble understand, better than you do, that the kind of protection you've been giving us is domestic security theater that provides little protection and explicitly threatens the essential liberties as provided in our founding principals, and a foreign policy that has generated greater threats than it has promising stabs at peace.
