Eeeek!

Eeek! I'm so sorry. I'm still figuring this LiveJournal thing out. I'm using the Emacs client, which doesn't allow me to do easy back-dating, and I tend to write in bursts and commit them all at the same time. I went in to back-date some of them that needed to be set back and screwed up, so some of you will see some entries over again. Sorry about that!

Most people use friend-lists to read entries, and backdating will not affect them there. So for example, if I post an entry and date it for sometime in 2000, it will still show up by posting-time in friend lists, even though in the calendar view it will be the correct date/time. It kinda sucks, actually. Pissed me off when I transferred all my old journal entries from another site over to here as they all showed up en masse on my friends reading lists even though I backdated them properly.

What platform do you use? I might suggest a good LJ client such as semagic..

If he's using emacs, it's assumed he's probably using a unix varient as his platform of choice. Any or all of the below clients may work in Elf's unix environment.

For Gnome: Drivel
Java: MobileLJ
Mozilla: LiveLizard
Emacs: ljupdate
Python: PyLJClient
Perl: jlj
Unix: Clive
KDE: KLuJe
GTK: LogJam

The laptop is Linux (Redat 7.3) and very stable.

I guess I just don't understand [livejournal.com profile] ljupdate well enough to use any backdating facilities it might have. It's pretty primitive code as it is, but I've learned to live with it, and it does do what I want it to, more or less. I just wish I'd understand the LJ web interface's backdating facility before I started doing the backdating on that original batch.
