We had another sleepless night. Omaha's body apparently picked 2:30am as the best time to try and shift the stone further toward the bladder, so Omaha was up, gasping and groaning, and there was nothing I could do about it. Her pain woke up Kouryou-chan, who came in to be comforted while we waited out the agony.

After listening to her pacing in the bathroom, I suggested she take a hot shower. As I explained to Kouryou-chan, the warm water might help her belly relax and pass the stone, but more than that, the random but familiar white noise of the water would be a distraction, and so would her having an activity rather just waiting, and finally taking a shower requires some care, so all of that would keep her mind off the pain. It seems to have helped.

My only concern now is that dealing with the pain may have tapped out some vital neural reserves, putting her at greater risk for an epileptic attack.

The cats were difficult, too: constant fighting all night long, using the bed as a battleground. We can't help but wonder if it's dominance, or if they're freaked out by Omaha's distress, or if we're not feeding them enough, but it's crazy-making.

She said she felt okay this morning, enough that I felt comfortable going off to work. She said she and Kouryou-chan would sleep in an extra hour or two, and then she'd take Kouryou-chan to school late.
