Ah, the weekend... Ah, America.

Other than the fireworks, the weekend was full of work, love, life, happiness, cooking, and joy. Omaha and I still had our commitments to meet, so we spent the mornings in the office hacking out our respective lives, and then in the afternoons we did... stuff. Saturday, I spent some time in the car, driving Yamaraashi-chan to her friends' house, while getting in more home-office time and stuff. The evening we spent together and watched the Disney flick The Rescuers and ate home-made pizza. The girls weren't thrilled with my decision to go with a more traditional, less salty mozarella.
The Disney nature flick included with the film, "The Waterbirds," was more than a little stupid. I kept wincing every time the narrator would say stupid shit like, "Nature has provided each and every species with its own habitat and food supply," and "Nature has designed her bill for a unique purpose." Uh, no, these things happen as the result of emergence and selection. "Provision" and "design" are not the province of natural selection. We MiSTied it, but mostly because it was so out-of-date.
Sunday was the fourth, so we had the parade, and the barbecue, and the sparklers, and that was the whole of it. Breakfast was crepes; I don't know why, but I had unusual difficulty with getting the pans at the right heat, because I tore three of them. Usually, I only lose one or two.
Monday, I made breakfast again— this time, hash browns, scrambled eggs (lightened with white wine), and bacon. All cooked in the grease from the bacon. Yum. We went out shopping for clothes, second-hand this time, and I'm afraid I might have to finally admit something tragic to myself— when it comes to chinos, I'm a size 38, not a 36 anymore. I find this odd because I haven't changed in weight, and am still working out regularly. But, reality is reality.
A quiet day all around. A new D&D store, D20 Games, opened up nearby, and it appears to be more a labor of love than an attempt at financial success. We walked over there for a looksee; it's within walking distance anyway and I needed some dice. Nice place. Put together by gamers and costumers.
