I've found their particular brand of xenophobia to be pretty odd, actually. I have a couple of friends who have moved to South Korea to teach English, and they say that while there's no end to eager English students, don't bother to try learning Korean. If you try, you're more likely than not to get a response like "Please speak English" if they're being polite, but more likely you'll just be ignored or chastised for making the attempt. This is probably one of the reasons that B.R. Myers is one of the few westerners to speak the language as well as he does.
