Mixed feelings about Linux Kernel 2.6.30
Oct. 8th, 2009 07:27 amI upgraded to the Linux Kernel 2.6.30. There's one super-duper advantage to it: I now have instant-on, instant-off service a'la Apple Powerbooks. There's one major disadvantage: the kernel didn't support the ATI series 8 driver, and the ATI series 9 driver doesn't support my card, so I had to use the Radeon driver. The Radeon OpenGL subsystem fails its regression test badly. Halo no longer runs.
Still, going from ~2 minutes to ~2 seconds of serviceability during my commute? I think I'll keep it.
