Date: 2009-06-29 04:49 pm (UTC)I see it more as a recognition of the fact that as long as we have ample supplies of leftovers, alcohol, and hungry college-age males, there will be these terrifying concoctions that "seemed like a good idea at the time".
Occasionally, these dishes will make their way into the region's cultural diet, like Australia's Pie Floater. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pie_floater) More often, they make their way either to the trash the morning after, accompanied by comments of disgust and wondering what one could possibly have been thinking, or possibly straight to the toilet later that night by consensus of the body's digestive system, which doesn't care at all how good the idea might have seemed, and reminds us that it gets the deciding vote or veto.
