Well, Monday was a bit of a bust. Two resume's out to recruiters, and one blind to one of those super-stealthy Internet startups that are trying hard to recruit good talent but is otherwise definitely trying to stay below the radar. On the other hand, I did get some interesting intelligence about how said start-up is still trying hard to raise capital, apparently with modest success, because, as my informant put it, sometimes the place is packed; other times its just empty. Maybe the executives spend a lot of time flying around the country.

Dunno. We'll see. Other than that, grabbed Kouryou-chan from school, and took the first tentative steps toward having a proper algorithm for timeline management inside the SecretProject (well, there you go. You know it has something to do with "timeline management."). I'll be doing more of that this afternoon.

I wish I could say that the layoff is letting me write, but really, it's not. I promised Omaha a nicer web design, so that's what I've been working on recently. Wordpress chops aren't a bad skill to have, either.

I use wordpress for my sites and like it but tweaking it can be a bit of a black art - and saleable....

To which I tilt my head and say, "Aroo?" Wordpress is a trivial program. I don't mean in the sense that the framework itself is trivial, it's not, it's quite the masterpiece of security-minded programming. But the actual inner workings are pretty easy to understand, especially those for a programmer. It's the graphic design that's a bigger challenge for me, but even that isn't that rocket science when I have a clear idea in mind.

Nah - when you get to css conflicts, the joy of artistic vision vs what's easy to do and some of the widgets, it can get a bit interesting. Most people who OWN the site don't know what to do when something goes wrong. I help probably 1-2 people a month fix up relatively trivial issues they just can't do themselves.

Thus the reason they consider it a black art and pay to have someone else set it up and fix problems.
