Still recovering, doing well, though. The actual numbers are pretty terrifying, but there isn't much I can do about it until Monday. Unemployment has been sending me stuff so I can start that process, which is fine. Omaha and I want to talk to a lawyer about some clauses in the severance package, but other than that it looks like highly conservative boilerplate.

Rather than angst about it, or hang out in front of computers for the entire day, Omaha and I went outside and enjoyed the first real day of spring. It was sunny all day long, the temperature got up into the high 50'-- jeans and t-shirt weather for me, although Omaha opted to keep a sweater on all day.

It doesn't look like it, but we did a lot. The oak tree finally dumped its last leaves this past week, and so raking and sweeping was the order of the day. Omaha trimmed the bushes in the front yard, and the winter's worth of debris that collects on the downslope toward the garage amounted to a small hill of rubbish. We spent four hours outdoors, in the warmth and the sun, enjoying ourselves. Friends came over around five, so that their child and Kouryou-chan could spend the evening and Sunday together. Both had been saying, "I'm so bored!" so putting them together was the right thing to do.

I gave Omaha her perquisite by marriage after a long day of work: a long backrub with extra footwork thrown in. Although we went to be tired, I couldn't sleep, so I stayed up late, watched some anime, wrote some, and eventually went to sleep around midnight.

I sent out emails to a couple of open source projects in the hopes of getting back some details that have long bothered me about their works, in the hopes that I might have an insight or contribution. More on that later. I've often rebuilt my resume between jobs by doing open source stuff; last time, it was fixing the Linux kernel driver for Sidewinder joysticks. My "itch" in that case was I wanted the open source version of Freespace to work with my desktop.

Oh, and I got my photography toolchain working again! Yay! I had to download the beta version of Hugin over sourceforge and hack my own ebuild for Gentoo, but now it works lovely. Here, have a picture from the Wayward Cafe' a couple of months back, when Vixy & Tony and Betsy were raising cash for Sooj:
