The weakend...
Mar. 30th, 2009 09:18 amBarely three hours had passed since I woke up, it wasn't even noon yet and I'd already made four loaves of bread dough, to be baked in an hour; made oatmeal; driven Yamaraashi-chan to one birthday party; and driven Kouryou-chan to her dance class. Before her dance class was over, I had to quarter the dough into loaves and start pre-heating the oven, so when I get back I slap the first two in, bake them, then get the other two going while those cool.
Despite having a strong wake-up on the yeast, the bread didn't rise well. I baked it as well as I could, running back to the studio to pick Kouryou-chan up from her dance class between baking sessions.
After the bread was made, we all piled into the car, stopped by LisaKit's house to pick her up, then picked up Yamaraashi-chan and hurtled at full speed to Oloteas.
Oloteas was good, but it made me aware of just how out-of-shape I really am. Kouryou-chan insisted on spending over two hours in the damn swimming pool, and I spent much of it there with her, treading water. By the end of the afternoon I was exhausted. My hips still hurt today. I must get back on the exercise horse, and fast.
The workshop for kids was pretty good, as was the meal, but we were all not feeling well by the time rit came around, so we skipped it and headed home early.
Sunday, we did the monthly groceries and went bowling with the kids. I bowled a 165 and then a 101, so something good was happening there. Omaha did nearly as well. Even Kouryou-chan improved, and Yamaraashi-chan started out with desultory tosses but started to actually work for her score toward the end of the game.
I dropped Omaha off at a meeting she had, then went home and sat on the kids until they finished their chores. I scrubbed out the master shower stall with power tools (yay for power tools!). I did three loads of laundry, and cleaned the kitchen. While Omaha finally started into the garden (a day without rain? In Seattle? Unheard of!), I bought groceries at an unfamiliar grocery store, so it took much longer than it should have.
Dinner was pork chops, seared over high heat and then cooked evenly over medium, with salt and pepper. Cous-cous and broccoli finished off the meal. The girls actually ate it, so I was quite satisfied. There were furious rounds of Uno.
