At least, in the pool I'm currently using. Last night, and not for the first time, I had a desperate time going to sleep because I itched, badly. This happened on the last two occasions visiting the Mt. Rainier swimming pool. I took a long, rinsing shower before bed, but it wasn't until I applied an aloe vera-based anesthetic cream to my back and shoulders was I able to get any sleep.

It's really annoying, because swimming is absolutely the best exercise I get these days, and it's something I can do with the family on a regular basis, but this is beyond itching. It's Setdamned painful.

There are rinses designed to remove chlorine, but even just showering before you leave the pool might make the difference. By the time you dry off then re-wash, the chemicals have done a fair bit of dirty work.

You could rub yourself down with bacon grease before you swim. (Vaseline would probably work too, and you'd be less likely to be attacked by wild dogs)

I have the same issue with pools, and with hot tubs - I can't even use a hot tub unless the water's been freshly changed, before the chemicals can build up. The flocculant is another possible culprit, since it's designed to clump those tiny bits of dead skin cells... I sometimes wonder if it's homing in on my skin too.

I find that the longer I wait to rinse, the worse I itch, and my skin becomes very dry to the point of peeling. I definitely suggest a thorough rinse right after you leave the pool, before going home.

Agreed with showering at the pool, and then moisturizer.

Maybe try another pool? There's one near white center...

If the problem is the chlorine, there is a solution. I don't know about the pools up here, but I know that while I lived in Tacoma and was a member of the YMCA there, the Y changed to a saline system that did not us chlorine at all.
