Date: 2009-02-13 10:27 pm (UTC)As for issue 1, there's already a well-established gesture. With the right hand, thump the chest, then briskly extend it, palm forward to a 45 degree angle. Generally this action should be accompanied by a greeting of "SIEG HEIL!"
As far as the religious right goes... I enjoy having yet another example of them being the ones (as usual) who are screaming for 'political correctness'.
I'm glad they've accepted they are neither religious nor right. But really, if they can draw a bad rep with those words, they really do have only themselves to blame. Most people consider 'religious' a positive word and 'right' undoubtedly has a positive bias.
So.... Ya. Major fail. I am amused. :)
