And the wingnuts are out in force. The Christian Worldview Network allows Cythia Dunbar to opine that since Barack Obama is not an American citizen, then nobody should feel any shame that he is occupying the White House. We've simply been conned. But now that he's in office, we have to be afraid that, should an attack happen to America on his watch, he'll take advantage of this and impose eternal martial law on the rest of us. She ends by saying, "I told you so."

And George Newman tells us that the market probably tanked 486 points today because they know how bad Barack Obama's going to be for this economy, what with his reparations for slavery, the virtual nationalization of oil and gas industries, fascistic oversight of pharmaceutical industries, and the implementation of a value added national sales tax on top of income taxes, etc. etc. The Wall Street Journal gave Newman space on its op-ed page, noting that he's a retired business executive. Huh. With that kind of drag on the economy, you'd think we'd be down around Dow 1000, not 8000.

Shouldn't it be, 'I will have told you so.'? I mean, it hasn't happened yet.

Oh, we're done for now. But believe me, the wingnuts are only getting started. They'll do everything they can to destroy Obama, to invalidate his successes and revel in his failures. Already the legitimacy of his presidency is in question; there's already a website dedicated to his impeachment.

Wingnuttery never stops. And on the internet, it never sleeps either.

Now, whether or not they will do everything they can to destroy Obama, or just blather on and on about how all libruls must be killed and put into a meat grinder, starting with Obama, is another thing entirely.

My only concern for Obama at this point is for his physical safety. After his amazingly brilliant campaigns, first against Clinton and then against McCain, I'm confident he can deal with any political threats they try to throw at him. I think he's a run-of-the-mill Democrat in terms of his policy positions and voting record, but he is a truly exceptional political strategist. Throw in a Democratic majority in Congress for at least two years, a Republican brand even more tarnished than it was after Nixon, and a media swinging a bit back toward the center, and the wingnuts won't know what hit 'em.

Doesn't he have to be sworn in before he's impeached? That seems only fair.

When the DJIA goes up, it's because Republicans are good.
When the DJIA goes down, it's because the Democrats are bad.

Makes sense.
