There was a lot of longer pieces I have yet to read in my feed. Today's not a gym day, so I'll be looking at them over lunch. Not getting a whole lot of story writing done these days, sad to say. Let's get right to it.

Jessica Alba makes 'raunchy topless bondage poster' to get out the vote!: Worldnet Daily goes over the top complaining about Declare Yourself's latest poster in which she appears with black tape over her mouth and criss-crossing her chest in a "register to vote now" poster.
Wick Allison endorses Obama: The left is all atwitter because Hillary supporter Lynn Forester de Rothschild, super-wealth-inheriting daughter of those Rothschilds of myth and legend, decided that she "hasn't seen enough of Obama to trust him" and has endorsed John McCain.

On the other hand, Wick Allison, a co-founder of National Review and former publisher of William F. Buckley, has endorsed Barack Obama. And unlike de Rothschild, Allison has his reasons thought out:
Barack Obama is not my ideal candidate for president. But I now see that Obama is almost the ideal candidate for this moment in American history. I disagree with him on many issues. But those don't matter as much as what Obama offers, which is a deeply conservative view of the world. Nobody can read Obama's books (which, it is worth noting, he wrote himself) or listen to him speak without realizing that this is a thoughtful, pragmatic, and prudent man. It gives me comfort just to think that after eight years of George W. Bush we will have a president who has actually read the Federalist Papers.

Most important, Obama will be a realist. I doubt he will taunt Russia, as McCain has, at the very moment when our national interest requires it as an ally. The crucial distinction in my mind is that, unlike John McCain, I am convinced he will not impulsively take us into another war unless American national interests are directly threatened.
Stephen Colbert nails John McCain!: McCain himself is famously reticent about his Vietnam experience. He only mentions it when people ask unrelated questions. How dare you question John McCain on (noun that's bothering you). When he was a POW, he didn't have (same noun).
Brad and Andrew, at it again! This time, over Marc Ambinder.: Brad accuses Ambinder of misdirection when he shows that McCain's $12000 figure probably wouldn't affect many Americans, but then points out that Obama's premium max is $5000, much less and often maxed out by larger families. My family would benefit under Obama's plan, but not McCain's for example, barring any emergency medical experiences such as trauma surgery or cancer.
John McCain on the coming liberation of... Spain!: It seems that an interview with John McCain for a Spanish language radio station took a turn for the senior when John McCain, apparently having a moment, either forgot that Spain is in Europe, or that Spain is an ally and one of the original members of the "Coalition of the Willing." Either way, it's an embarassment for McCain.
Obama reminds voters that McCain is anti-choice: If you saw the Daily Show segment where Samantha Bee establishes that the real Republican virtue is "Choice for Mine but Not For Thine," you'll understand why I think this is a good strategy. Voters need to be reminded that McCain was willing to accept a constitutional amendment banning all abortions, even in cases of rape and incest. Women voters need to understand that McCain is not pro-choice, despite the persistent myth that he is.
Palin answers a shouted question "off the cuff.": Bwahahaha!
"Dissapointed that taxpayers are called upon to bailout another one," she said. "Certainly AIG though with the construction bonds that they're holding and with the insurance that they are holding very, very impactful to Americans so you know the shot that has been called by the Feds its understandable but very, very disappointing that taxpayers are called upon for another one."
The CBS anchor reporting this states that her response "Prompted concerned looks from staffers." Well, it had better.

Oh my Gad!
Mitt Romney: "I was for age-appropriate sex education for kindergarteners before I was against it.": Mitt Romney, talking about the McCain ad in which he blasts Obama for teaching "sex education" to kindergarteners, says, "And in my opinion, and John McCain and I share the same view, the only sex education that's appropriate in kindergarten is no sex education."

Except that ABC news has shown that Romney did, as governor of Massachusettes, support his states comprehensive K-12 sex education curriculum and told Planned Parenthood he supports "responsible, age-appropriate, factually accurate health and sexuality education, including information about both abstinence and contraception, in public schools."
Martha Stewart says she'd feel "really, really weird about a president who doesn't use a computer.": But Martha doesn't come across so great herself in the segment, so maybe it's a wash. Still, I'm enough of a Martha queen that I felt compelled to include it.
The idiocy of the current right in two images: This blog entry has been zipping around the blogosphere from a website calling itself "The Oasis for Rational Conservatism," and it's entitled "All you need to know." If you don't click through, it shows Sarah Palin leaning against a Harley, but Barack Obama riding a bicycle. Barack's wearing a helmet. Sarah doesn't even seem to own one.

Yeah, that's all I need to know: Sarah Palin can't ride a motorcycle, but she can pose next to one. Barack, on the other hand, can at least balance on two wheels.

Let's get real here. The "Oasis of Rational Conservatism" is peddling pure nonsense here. If that's "all you need to know," you're not a rational voter, you're an idiot.
