Actually, I suspect that it might have to do with the fact that Habitat for Humanity is a bottom-up community organization, and right now the Republicans want to remind you that "community organizer" is just a euphemism for "angry black man."

The Bush Administration fights against UN blasphemy resolutions.: While the Catholic Church has repeatedly stated that freedom of speech laws should not apply to those who try and hurt the feelings of believers, the Bush administration gets off its duff when it learns that there's an initiative before the UN to demand "respect for Islam."
