Brains, Doomed From The Start
Jun. 24th, 2008 10:16 pmGods, it's all too depressing to keep up with. Let's start with the sickness:
Kit Bond (R-Mo) explains why we need to give the telecomms immunity: "I'm not here to say that the government is always right, but when the government tells you to do something, I'm sure you would all agree that I think you all recognize that is something you need to do."
Yeah, when the administrations tells you to break the law, you need to do it. And get away with it.
James Dobson feels the heat of Obama! Apparently, Obama's outreach to evangelicals is bothering Dobson. And Dobson is lashing back with nasty words and a worldview that's, well, not as Biblical as he wants to believe.
"John McCain is Aware of the Internet." That's what has aides want us to know. That even though he can't even use a computer.
Okay, classroom exercise people. I want you to try and explain to John McCain the goldfarm URL incident on WOW. Really. Charlie Stross made a good try. I wonder if McCain would get it. Would it even make sense to him? Would he understand that this was an event of significant economic impact?
"I am aware of all internet traditions." Normally, making fun of a blog commenter isn't cricket, but this one was just too much fun. Another great quote.
John Bolton: "The Arab States Would Be Delighted If The US Destroyed the Iranian Nuclear Capability." Ooookaaaay. Back away from the crazy neocon slowwwly.
Bill Kristol: "If Obama Is Likely To Win, George Bush Is More Likely To Start a War With Iran Before He Leaves Office." Ack! We're surrounded by neocons! Apparently, Kristol believes that Bush believes that war with Iran is so important that if McCain's not in place to continue his polices than by God he's just going to have to do it himself! (via )
Are you worried about Nuclear Terror? The Bush Administration Isn't! Last year Congress mandated a "Nuclear Terrorism Intelligence Coordinator," or czar as it's sometimes called. The president is required under law to fill this office with a man who is qualified to advise and inform him of threats and activities in the nuclear underground.
President Bush has not yet seen fit to fill this vacancy.
Justice Department Hiring Was Politicized "Justice Department officials over the last six years illegally used 'political or ideological' factors to hire new lawyers into an elite recruitment program, tapping law school graduates with conservative credentials over those with liberal-sounding resumes." So says the Justice Department's inspector general. And this is just part one of a five-part investigation! I can't wait to see the rest.
Yeah, when the administrations tells you to break the law, you need to do it. And get away with it.
